Hello!  My name is Sean Mitchell.  I’m a Roman Catholic, a husband, a father, a concerned citizen and, among other things, an aspiring writer.  I think endlessly about topics that bore my wife half to death.  This fact played no small part in my decision to start this blog; as a firm believer in the addage “happy wife, happy life”, I just knew I had to find a way to vent my thoughts that wasn’t at the dinner table each night.

 

In all seriousness, I started All-American Catholic for the purpose of infusing our public life with virtue and faith in God (a lofty goal, I know).  I’ve done so because I believe firmly in this famous statement of John Adams:

 

Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

 

The way I see it, if we don’t have virtue and faith, then neither will we continue to have our freedoms.  For they will be stripped away from us without our even seeing it coming.  If this is to happen–and indeed it’s already begun to–then even those of us who have faith now may lose it in time of trial.

 

That, and not the need to avoid boring and annoying my wife, is the reason I have started this blog.  Thanks for checking it out! I hope you enjoy!
